These Are Our Beautiful Friends
Meet Grissom - our inspiration

We received Grissom from Virginia in 2004. He was meant as a pet for our 3 year old son who was undergoing leukemia treatments. My older son and I am both asthmatics and felt we could not have a cat. Previously (In Texas) we were breeders of Australian Blue Heelers (dogs :)) We are a military family from NH but have traversed the country to every coast and back again - and several foreign countries. At the time we felt a puppy was too labor intensive with the treatments. We found the Siberian Cat!!
Once you meet one you will be in love forever - and so, Siberian Cat's have changed our lives. To make a story short - he did not bother Connor's asthma at all and me only the tiniest bit in the eyes if I don't wash after touching. I have an off the scale allergy level that qualifies me for experimental medicines. This gives you some idea of our experience with the Siberian Cat breed, in case you were considering it due to it's hypoallergenic label. Hypoallergenic does NOT mean allergy free. It means less likely to cause an allergic reaction in most people. All people are different and reactions cannot be gauged. My experience lends credence to their standing though, as I cannot spend more than 30 minutes in a home with normal felines without becoming severely ill.
